On Indeemo, each unit of research is called a Project. The structure of your project is as follows:

1. Project Details - Here you will see internal details regarding your project. Respondents do not see this.

1.1 (OPTIONAL) Customised Respondent registration page - If you are using the Indeemo Recruitment Integration or URL/ OR Code sign up, you will see this.

IMPORTANT! This is a requirement when using the Indeemo Recruitment Integration.

1.2 (OPTIONAL) Opt-in Consent If you are using the Indeemo Recruitment Integration or URL/ OR Code sign up, you will see this.

IMPORTANT! This is a requirement when using the Indeemo Recruitment Integration.

2. Target Groups - These are groups or segments by which you will organise your respondents.

Target groups can either:

  1. Complete the same tasks by multiple target groups being linked to the same task list: This allows you to group Respondents by attribute such as Gender, Demographic Information or Persona for example.

2. Have a unique task list for each Target group: Task lists are programmed on a target group level so each target group can be linked to its own bespoke task list

IMPORTANT! Each respondent can only be added to 1 target group.

3. Task Lists - For task lists, you can either:

  1. Have multiple Target Groups linked to the same task list and therefore all completing the same tasks: This allows you to group Respondents by attribute such as Gender, Demographic Information or Persona for example.

2. Have a unique task list for each Target group: Task lists are programmed on a target group level so each target group can be linked to its own bespoke task list.

IMPORTANT! When using multiple task lists, each task list is unique, and must be edited separately. Click on the task list in the navigation bar that you wish to edit.

Editing a Task List

For each Task List you can edit the Rating Scale (optional), the Introduction, the Tasks and the Completion Message.

IMPORTANT! If using multiple task lists, each task list is unique, and must be edited separately. Click on the task list in the navigation bar that you wish to edit.

Simply click on 'Edit' on any section you want to edit.

3.1 (OPTIONAL) Rating Scale

When enabling ratings for Journey Mapping and Experience Graph, it is important to note the following:

  • Your chosen rating scale will be applied only to the tasks you choose
  • Your chosen rating scale will be the same for all tasks it is applied to
  • Respondents must assign one of the 5 ratings for every upload to the tasks it is applied to

Define 1 scale:

  • Emoji only
  • Number only
  • Text only
  • Emoji + text
  • Emoji + number

3.1 Introduction

This is the first thing the respondent sees when accessing their task list in the app.

This is a brief introduction to the project where you welcome the respondents and provide the context within the app.

We recommend you mention the following in your intro:

  • Welcome the Respondent to the project,
  • Explain the purpose of the project (what you generally need them to do),
  • Confirm the duration of the project.
  • Confirm how many tasks in total they will need to complete.
  • If there is an out of home component, e.g. a shopping mission, please also mention this here so they can plan ahead.
  • We recommend you include your name and contact email in case they have any questions on the tasks
  • We recommend you also include 'If you have any technical questions on the app, please use the 'Contact Us' section in the app or email support@indeemo.com'
  • Finally, you can also embed an intro selfie video from yourself/ a moderator to bring a human face to the technology

3.1 Tips we show to Respondents on how to use the Indeemo App

Tips have been automatically populated for your respondents depending on the type of task list you have chosen and the language.

Feel free to edit these.

3.1 Tasks

  1. You can change the position of a Task inside the task list by clicking on the arrows at the right of each Task
  2. We recommend you make any changes before a project begins however if you change the content of a Task which is already released to respondents, the Task will be changed in the app but the Respondents won’t get any notification about the change. So please notify the respondents by sending a reminder telling them to read the task again and follow the new instructions

Task Title: Use a 2-3 word title that summarises the entire task e.g. “1. Intro selfie video”, “2. Daily diary task” or “3. In store shopping video task”. We recommend numbering your tasks.

Task Description:

We recommend you use the following approach:

  • WHY: Purpose: explain what you need them to do and why.
  • WHERE: Context: Specify where the task should take place if relevant e.g. “go to your local supermarket and….” or “find a private place and record a video to tell us…”
  • WHAT they need to upload: tell them how they need to respond to the task e.g.:
    • “Record a 2-3 minute selfie video and tell us..”
    • “Using a series of photos with captions, show us…”
    • “Choose the Note option on Indeemo and tell us…”
    • “Using the Screen Recording option, do the following:”
  • Bullets: Use bullets for your specific questions.
  • 3-4 questions max: no more than 3-4 questions / task!
  • One off v Repetitive: If the task needs to be repeated, explain how many times / day and for how many days they should do it.

Please find tips we advise including for each task: Tips to include in the task list

You can embed photos/ images or videos as well by clicking on the icons:

  • Photo - .png and .jpeg / .jpg
  • Video - .mov / .mp4 (max video that can be embedded is a 500MB file but we would recommend 150MB/ 90 secs in order to avoid a slow loading task list)

(OPTIONAL) Ratings instruction:

If you have enabled ratings, a check box will be available below the description of each task for you to enable ratings for that task. Check this box if you wish to enable ratings for this task.

(Do not change this once fieldwork is live/ respondents have begun uploading).

When enabling the ratings for a task, it is essential to include context or a ratings instruction to ensure respondents use the ratings scale accurately.

Required Response:

The different types of uploads respondents will have access to use are:

  1. Videos: Selfies, videos of other things, respondents can add a text description/ caption, these can also come from their camera role.
  2. Photos: Selfies, photos of other things, respondents can add a text description/ caption, these can also come from their camera role (so this could include screenshots).
  3. Notes: A free text response
  4. Screen Recordings: Allows respondents to record their mobile screen as well as narrate over the recording. Screen recordings can also have a caption; ensure to include tips on screen recording

  • Required Responses for All At Once and Scheduled task lists: This is a summary of what you have already mentioned in the Task Description, ie what they must upload to complete the task.

It should be brief like '1 video' or '1 video per moment'

Scheduled task list: Start date/ Time & End date/ time

Start date/ time: The time and date tasks are released to respondents, push notifications are sent at this time. This is local time to your respondents.

End date/ time: As this is not visible to respondents, we would suggest leaving this field blank for the start; if an End Date/ Time is inserted, it means that the task will close or hide from the respondents task lists meaning they would not be able to upload anything new to those tasks. Therefore keeping the End Date/ Time blank leaves the task open for the duration for the project allowing for stragglers time to complete the tasks.

Once the fieldwork is live, you will be able to insert the End Date/ Time yourself using the dashboard so if you find completion rates are good, you could then decide to implement an End Date/ Time.

Sequential task list: Start task on

Immediately: This means the task will appear as soon as the respondent completes the previous task.

No sooner than: This means the task will only appear when the previous task is completed AND when the specified date and time has passed.

3.1 Completion Message

It is mandatory to add a Completion Message to each task list.

Use it to thank the respondents for taking part, explain what happens next. Embed a selfie video if you wish – it’s a great touch point.

The Completion Message appears as follows:

  • All-at-Once Task Lists: Once they register and log into the app
  • Scheduled Task Lists: Should typically be scheduled for the evening on the final date of fieldwork
  • Sequential Task Lists:Once Respondents complete their last task
